Hinode

(This isn't really new. This is an item that was on my web page, and I decided to move to my new blog...)

Between 2001 and 2005, I had the pleasure of working with folks at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics on software engineering for the Solar-B X-Ray Telescope. I say "pleasure" because they are engineers and astrophysicists who really know their stuff, and are a delight to work with. Solar-B was successfully launched in September 2006 and renamed Hinode (which apparently means sunrise in Japanese). Hinode has been producing some amazing pictures:
